PaperlinX demise prompts business rethink

This week sees the formation of PPB - Service on Display. Proctor Paper and Board, formed 37 years ago, has evolved into a £25m turnover company. In 1994, Proctors set up a business called Buchanan Paper and Board, and in 2010 acquired A&R Board Sales. That combined heritage is what will now be known as PPB - Service on Display.

PPB will remain an independently owned distributor and converter of POP materials and substrates to the screen print, digital and large-format markets. It has now widened its product range and stocks and converts industrial plastics, graphical products, digital display materials and aluminium composites.

Richard Proctor, MD of PPB, said of the move: “We have integrated our three businesses under one brand, PPB Limited, to supply display products nationally. This new name strongly re-enforces our reputation for converting materials, bespoke sheeting (including wide-format digital print sizes) and re-reeling.”

He added: “The demise of PaperlinX has changed the display market in its most significant way for 25 years. There were many highly qualified people and fantastic products left looking for new opportunities and investment. This is of course a great opportunity for us at PPB to build on our experience in this sector and we are relishing the chance to use our skills to better service a sector that we already know and understand. We are re-branding the company to give a clear message to customers, suppliers and our colleagues about what our business stands for today and what it is now capable of delivering.”

PPB has recently appointed several new staff including Joanne Smeeton and Glenn Crowley in digital sales, Paul Neale as ACM manager¸ Darren Raistrick as industrial plastics manager and Simon Balderson as group product manager.
