FT editor to remain Printing Charity president for second term

Financial Times editor Lionel Barber is to spend a second term as president of The Printing Charity. The announcement was made at the organisation’s annual lunch at Stationers’ Hall in London on 22 November.
In his speech at the lunch, Barber - who took on the role following the death of previous president Baroness Dean of Thornton-le-Fylde - spoke of change and the impact of digital communication on print. Quoting advice he himself had been given, he said: “if you’re talking to your team about change, don’t take all the heat. Get yourself an enforcer. And remember, that enforcer may not survive!” Barber also pointed out that: “At a time when the print industry faces diverse and important challenges, The Printing Charity does crucial work in both protecting the industry’s heritage and supporting its future.” Printing Industry chairman Jon Wright pointed out that the charity helped 1,296 people in its last financial year, a number that has already been exceeded this year.
