John E Wright signed a contract at Sign and Digital UK for an Océ Arizona 360 XT printer. Tony Barnett, a fourth-generation owner of the Midlands-based business, said: “The Océ Arizona XT 360 is a fantastic product to fill a gap we had in our signage and graphics business. It will be based in our main graphical operation in Nottingham. We have had an extremely busy time recently, winning important new contracts in key areas including retail, fashion products and general signage. This is just the first - we expect to buy other Océ systems going forward.”

OPG, of Lesmahagow in Scotland, has replaced the last of its solvent ink-based printers with a 61in, six-colour HP Designjet L26500 latex printer, making it an all latex-ink print operation.

 

Shaun Moseling has joined The Oasis Graphic as a printer and finisher. As part of his job he will be operating the company’s newly arrived flagship printer - the Vutek GS3250 - before which he will attend training at EFI in Brussels.

 

Hollywood Monster is sponsoring ‘Cycling for Harry’, a charity event in memory of Birmingham boy Harry Moseley who helped fellow cancer victims. His father Brian Bennett and friend Mel Castle are the power behind this cycle race on 12-13 May which will see 27 friends cycle over 100 miles in two days - from Blakenhale School, in Sheldon, where Harry was a pupil, to Wembley Stadium in London - raising more than £10,000.

Hybrid Software is continuing its expansion programme with the appointment of Koen Lesage as sales manager for UK and Ireland. This is the first step in Hybrid’s plans to grow in the UK and Ireland, which will eventually involve taking on experienced staff based locally in order to provide on-site support to customers. Initially Lesage will be based at the European headquarters in Kortrijk, Belgium, but he will spend time in the UK most weeks.

Antalis McNaughton is using Sign and Digital UK to unveil Coala, its new range of commodity, speciality and environmentally-friendly large-format printing substrates. The Coala collection includes 20 products for water-based ink and 54 for solvent, UV and latex ink.

UK-based Quantum-UV Technologies has launched an anti-bacterial printing service using new inks technology developed by the company and a Jetrix 2030FRK UV flatbed printer.

HP’s PVC-Free Wall Paper is now available from William Smith. The paper meets commercial wall covering standards, is flame retardant, comes with an HP warranty for clean removal and has an indoor durability of up to 20 years (dependent upon location). It is available in 1372mm (54in) x 30.5m (100ft) rolls and same day despatch is offered on orders received up to 6pm.

 

CWE Solutions has relocated its southern office from Bermondsey, London to a site four-times bigger in Chessington, Surrey. As a result it is able to stock a larger range of printing equipment and consumables and offer a better demonstration facility. CWE is also now looking to hire drivers, sales, accounting and warehouse staff.

 

Gardners chief Richard Gardner has been voted UK winner in the Fespa Hall of Fame, which saw more than 6,000 votes cast for more than 400 printers from 40 countries. Runners up in the UK category were: second, Tim Hill from Speedscreen Creative Print Solutions; third, Mark Simpson of the Simpson Group; and fourth, Lascelles Barrow of Augustus Martin.

Professor Braungart will deliver the keynote opening address at EcoPrint on 26 September 2012. He is a world leader in eco-efficiency and the co-author and founder of ‘the cradle to cradle’ system that enables a business to reduce waste and reuse resources whilst increasing efficiency and profit.
