EFI makes key Drupa announcements
EFI is using its largest Drupa exhibit to date to show several new platforms and products. These include:
Roland releases fluorescent inks for Texart XT-640 and RT-640
Roland has released Fluorescent Pink and Fluorescent Yellow inks formulated for its Texart XT-640 and RT-640 wide-format dye-sublimation printers. They will be available in mid-July in a CMYKOrViFpFy configuration for the printers with ErgoSoft Roland Edition software Rip.
Bordeaux extends its printer specific UV ink offering
Bordeaux has released two new printer specific UV ink solutions - the Plasma HF and Plasma VG for the HP 500/700 series and for the Vutek GS series. The company said the products offer plug-and-print on the fly conversion and the ability to print on the most rigid and flexible substrates.
New UV LED curing systems on show
At Drupa German company IST Metz and UK subsidiary Integration Technology are showing a new UV LED curing system targeted at the wide-format graphics and direct-to-product digital industrial markets.
Adobe launches PDF Print Engine 4
Adobe has introduced the fourth version of its PDF Print Engine (APPE 4). In this version, Tile Parallel Processing (TPP) brings the efficiencies of the Mercury Rip Architecture to wide-format printing.
New SureColor forms basis of DJet 10000 double-sided printing system
Epson will demonstrate the DJet 10000 double-sided printing system for the first time at Drupa. The 44in width ten-colour system has been developed by Swiss firm Digital Information and features two new Epson SureColor SC-P10000 printers also launching at the show.
Fespa UK to host Digital Print for Corrugated Packaging Summit
The Fespa UK Association is hosting a Digital Print for Corrugated Packaging Summit on 5 October. It will be held at the Williams Grand Prix Conference Centre in Oxfordshire.
Agfa to launch Anapurna i LED printer at Drupa
Drupa will see the launch of Anapurna i LED wide-format printers from Agfa Graphics. On display will be the Anapurna H2500i LED system, a 2.5m hybrid machine for printing rigid and flexible media.

Esko will showcase an industrial, automated robotic production system at Drupa This setup will demonstrate how intelligent material processing and handling will work with the Kongsberg cutting table.
Taopix announces commitment to HP PrintOS
HP Scitex, Latex, PageWide and Indigo users looking to sell personalised photo products will be able to fully integrate with the HP PrintOS Site Flow application via the Taopix platform. The latter will pass print-ready files to Site Flow that will then assign a product plan to every job. The jobs will then be managed in batches to increase efficiency at the printing and finishing stages.
Kala launches heat-ready laminators
Kala is launching a range of heat-ready laminators. With a heat-assisted top roller the Starter HR can achieve fixed-temperatures of up to 40° C, reducing silvering and producing the optimum finish.
HP extends its DesignJet Z-series
The HP DesignJet Z-series has be extended with the addition of the six-colour automatic multi-roll 44in Z5600 and 24in Z2600.
Foster shows off new roll lifters
New Foster lifters will be shown at Drupa. The products being showcased are: the Foster Low-Profile On-a-Roll Lifter (on the HP stand); Foster Universal On-a-Roll Lifter (on the Agfa stand); and the Foster Jumbo On-a-Roll Lifter (on the EFI stand).
