Wrights Plastics completes solar panel installation

Sign and print specialist Wrights Plastics has completed the installation of solar panels at its West Bromwich headquarters. The panels now cover around 90% of the roof space at the 4,273m2 factory.

The company said the panels are now generating a “significant” amount of renewable carbon-free energy that will reduce its non-renewable energy use.

Managing director Mike Wright said: “Developing a more sustainable approach to how we work is important to our organisation, and our investment in solar energy is just the latest in our ambitious plans to reduce our environmental impact.”

So far Wrights’ sustainability journey has included investing £m in machinery that minimises energy use and material waste; using recycled material wherever possible, including components for Jaguar Land Rover; improving waste segregation resulting in significantly more plastics sent for recycling; and installing an energy-efficient lighting system that reduced C02 emissions at HQ by 17 tonnes a year.
