Xanté enters large-format inkjet printer with “screaming fast” offering

Xanté has entered the wide-format inkjet printer market with the 42in Excelagraphix 4200, based on Memjet Waterfall printhead technology to deliver “screaming fast speeds at a price point that’s affordable for a fast ROI”. Graph Expo in the US was the launchpad for the printer which Frank Romano, RIT Professor Emeritus, has hailed as “a glimpse of printing’s viable future.”

The Excelagraphix 4200’s Memjet Waterfall printheads deliver more than three billion drops of ink per second yielding print speeds said to be up to eight times faster than traditional inkjet technology. It prints up to 152mm (6in) per second at 1600 x 1600dpi and up to 305mm (12in) per second at 1600 x 800dpi. It employs 2l or 10l CMYKK inks for cost-effective operation and prints on a wide range of media (including foam board, corrugated cardboard etc.) in sheet sizes from 210 x 210mm (8.27 x 8.27in) up to 1,066mm x 30.5m (42in x 100ft). It is said to run variable data/personalisation at full speed.

“The industry has been watching to see what Memjet would do, and Xanté is honored to be part of an event that is breaking ground and has the capacity to significantly alter the production landscape for the better, and for the long term,” said Xanté CEO Robert Ross.

“In the case of our partnership with Memjet,“ Ross added, “we’re utilising two particular Xanté technologies: iQueue Color Smart Worfklow, and our handling of diverse substrates, to create what will likely be the fastest and, in terms of lower capital and operational costs, most efficient ways to print colour.”

Memjet wide-format president Mike Puyot said: “This partnership combines the best of both worlds. The Xanté Excelagraphix 4200 is just the tip of the iceberg in what we’ll start seeing in affordable, high-speed color solutions. Memjet color printing technologies offer end-users the freedom to print exactly what they want, when they want it, and where they want it; directly on manufacturing floors.”

Romano added his support: “Xanté has long been a pioneer in bringing new printing technology to all graphic arts businesses. Now it enters the wide-format world. Xanté has proven itself capable of filling technology gaps that were cost-prohibitive for other manufacturers to fill. Ross and his team consistently fill those gaps with amazingly progressive and yet inexpensive systems.”
