Durst demo’s Rho automation

At Drupa, where Durst is introducing its Rho P10 Series 10 picolitre UV inkjet printers, visitors can also see other interesting new automation advances in regards to the Rho family of printers.

First up is the Rho 1000 Automated roll-to-sheet system. The Rho prints from a 250cm wide jumbo roll and cuts to the required poster size using an integrated cutter. The system offers a heavy roll device as a solution for high speed long run printing. It consists of an unwinding tool and is equipped with two dancer rollers. It will handle rolls up to a diameter of 60 cm and a maximum roll weight of 600kg.

Being demonstrated on the Durst stand is a fully operational corrugated production line, which features automated loading, printing, varnishing and stacking in one operation.

At the heart of the system is a purpose built version of the Rho 1000 continuous inkjet production system, specifically designed for printing on corrugated boards. The system features the automatic feed of sheets, integrated varnishing and automated storage. There are special features for the reliable loading of corrugated material and its transport during the printing process. This is achieved through special edge holders and an extra strong vacuum provided by vacuum chambers that are adjusted according to the media size. It will also print cut marks onto the corrugated board for finishing on a digital cutter. Finally there is an automated stacker, which can handle multiple stacks and present them ready for dispatch on pallets.
