Durst launches Rho 1012 and 1030

The International Sign Expo (ISA) has been used by Durst as the launchpad for its Rho 1012 and 1030 printers.

The Rho 1012 is the first 12 picolitre flatbed printer in its class and uses Durst’s latest Quadro Array printheads. The very small drop size provides 1000dpi print quality whilst maintaining productivity of up to 490m2/he according to Durst, offering users the ability to meet the quality and volume requirements normally reserved for offset printing but with the media flexibility only possible with digital inkjet printing.

The Rho 1030 is very fast, said to be capable of production speeds up to 1000m2/hr without compromising the quality of print. It is fully automated, with auto loading and unloading tables. Also available are both roll-to-roll and roll-to-sheet options.

Existing Rho 1000 users can upgrade their existing machines to either the Rho 1012 or the Rho 1030 in the field.

“The introduction of the 1012 and 1030 is a natural fit for what we have been hearing from the market”, said Michael Lackner, marketing manager of Durst. “The Rho 1000 is a proven high volume wide-format digital printer and the capabilities of the two new printers, along with the automation solutions, make this a very strong solution for many of our print partners.”

At ISA Durst also launched Variodrop printhead technology to its Rho P10 Series of UV inkjet printers.

The benefits of Variodrop technology are considered to be refined greyscale, with improved productivity and image quality whilst overcoming some of the errors which can occur with greyscale printing alone.

“There is a significant increase in productivity of up to 25% for all the Rho P10 Series printers,“ said Lackner. “For example, with Variodrop the output of the Rho P10 250 is up to 240m2/hr featuring an ink drop size of 15 picolitres. In addition, the quality is improved for both 15 picolitre and 10 picolitre printing, including better colour gamut and even smoother solid colours."
