Speedscreen invests in Kongsberg C64

Kent-based Speedscreen Creative Print Solutions is home to the second UK installation of a Kongsberg C64 series cutting table.

Tim Hill, managing director of the digital and screen print company, said of the purchase: “We invested in a Durst 1012 a little over a year ago, this has led to a 30% increase in turnover over that period, and with much bigger volumes it became quickly apparent our new bottleneck was on the finishing side. Our existing G3 Zund was doing a good job, as was an ageing Kongsberg XP, but neither can match the pace of this new C series - it is simply phenomenal. We looked at other manufacturers, but at this size of bed [3.2m x 3.2m table size] the new C64 is unmatched. The machine will massively improve production throughput.”

The C64 was launched at Fespa earlier this year and features a carbon transverse beam that holds the tooling – making for a light yet strong construction. The cutter boasts a wide range of tooling, including a 3kw router.

Hill added: “This £200k investment takes us to well over £1m in the last 15 months. We now consider ourselves one of the best equipped digital wide format companies in the country.”
