Callprint is actively looking to acquire businesses that have large-format print and project management capabilities, with a turnover in excess of £3m, and with room to grow.

CityDocs Solutions, an authorised reseller for brands such as Canon, Ricoh and Sharp, and digital print sister company CityDocs Ltd is building on its large-format capability by forming Willow Graphics. The new venture, which started trading in September, has its HQ in Willow Walk, London. That’s now home to the group’s first large-format UV flatbed, a Jetix KX7-D inkjet printer, and an eight strong sales and production team. Willow will also operate from what are existing CityDocs digital production facilities in London, Leeds and Manchester that already house HP and Canon large-format kit. 

Entries are now being invited for the Fespa 2015 Awards. The competition, open to any print service provider globally, will culminate at a prize-giving ceremony at Fespa 2015 in Cologne next May. 

A replica of the printing press that launched the first media revolution half a millennium ago will be unveiled for the first time on Wednesday 12 November at the St Bride Foundation in London. 

The organiser of Viscom Frankfurt last week is pointing to a rail strike as the reason behind a drop off in attendance. The three-day trade fair, which alternates between Frankfurt and Düsseldorf, saw visitors numbers fall for the first time in ten years, with a total of 10,064 (prior event 12,075), representing a drop of 17% compared to Viscom Frankfurt 2012. 

A MarkzTools for InDesign plugin has been released that will allow users to open a higher version of an Adobe InDesign document in a lower version. For instance, an InDesign CS6 user of MarkzTools for InDesign can open an InDesign CC (Creative Cloud) or CC 2014 document. 

Blockout products are being launched by Ikonos for use with solvent, eco-solvent, UV and latex inks. New is BLM 600, a 185 micron Blockout material for roll-up systems, and BLM 630, a 435 micron media for pop-ups and POS applications.

New Streamline ESL HPQ inks are the first inkjet products to use Sun Chemical’s low odour chemistry. They have been developed for the Roland Soljet Pro 2, Pro 3 and VersaCamm printers and are said to be compatible with printers from Mutoh, Agfa and Uniform along with other eco-solvent inkjet printers using Epson DX 4 through to DX 7 piezo inkjet printheads.

The marketing programme for Fespa 2015 has kicked off, calling for print service providers to ‘Discover Your Universe of Print’. The event, which will be held in Cologne, will run 18-22 May next year and occupy 62,500m2 of exhibition space in the new north halls of KoelnMesse, making it the largest Fespa Global Expo. 

The Print Show has been launched by Link Exhibitions. The inaugural event will take place 13-15 October next year, at the NEC.
