Ricoh gets into wide-format with latex machine

Despite a press event by Ricoh at Drupa to announce it would be getting into wide-format inkjet with the Ricoh Pro L4000 series latex printer the unit is getting a low-key introduction on the stand.

The printer, essentially the same as the Mimaki JV400 series latex machine launched at Fespa Digital, will be sold directly by Ricoh in the UK from the first quarter of 2013. European pricing is around 30,000 Euro though exact UK pricing has yet to be decided.

“There’s no difference to the Mimaki machine technically,” said Ikuro Yamaga, hardware product marketing manager, Ricoh Europe. “They both use Ricoh’s piezo-electric printheads and use the same ink. It is really just rebranded by Ricoh.”

The Ricoh Pro L4000 series comes in two widths: 54in or 64in. They work with Mimaki latex ink in seven colours; CMYK, light cyan, light magenta and white. Output speed is up to 18.1m2/hour.
