Paul Turner Displays (PTD) has played a key part in delivering the ‘Picture This’ exhibition as part the 'Beyond the Castle' initiative to get the public to get involved in providing ideas for utilising the land behind Lancaster Castle
People of all ages shared their thoughts and ideas in a series of events that ran over the summer and autumn. The ‘Picture This’ exhibition in November was housed in the Storey gallery next door to Lancaster Castle. The intention was to fill this huge area with information and ideas to inspire the public. Wash Design, which had a very restricted budget and a two-week timeframe to design and install the exhibition, turned to PTD for help.
The main infrastructure of the whole exhibition comprised 500mm square cardboard boxes arranged in all shapes and sizes with individual messages colour coded and applied to 151 of these boxes. Traditional large-format methods of printing this type of job were completely out of the question due to the budget restrictions. PTD was aware of a small marketing company in Cheshire, which had the perfect printer that could print 151 different high quality posters at a price that made the project feasible. In addition, vinyl cut lettering had to be produced and applied in strategic locations to ensure the public had clear directional information to follow.
