HP brings versioning to wide-format

1 February 2010 will see the introduction of a variable data print (VDP) workflow option from HP for the wide-format market. SmartStream Designer, which has been available to HP Indigo users for some time and is now being brought to HP's wide-format printer users, is part of HP's strategy to spend more time focusing on workflow tools to help printers develop a better ROI on their investment in wide-format.

IpexTV switched on?

In a bid to engage with visitors and exhibitors in a more creative way, the Ipex 2010 organisers have added an IpexTV section on the show's wesbite. The intention is for the Ipex team to upload regular 'video-blogs' to communicate news about Ipex 2010 initiatives, visitor and exhibitor updates as well as broadcast short interviews with prominent industry figures.

Colourgen bullish about drop in sales?

Colourgen is being bullish about an eight percent drop in revenue for the year ending June 2009. Jeff Biggs, managing director of Colourgen, whose revenue fell to ?11m, said: "In a year which has seen the overall large-format print market shrink by more than 20%, our eight percent revenue drop represents a significant achievement. We have retained profitability despite the global recession and the weak pound, while maintaining a healthy balance sheet and strong lines of credit. We also took full ownership of our AmBer Centre premises in Maidenhead, which puts us on an excellent financial footing for the future."
