Those intending to visit North Print and Pack 2013 can now register to take part in a S'Print speed networking event which will run in the seminar theatres from 10:30 - 11:00am on Tuesday 14 May 2013. The intention is to offer attendees the opportunity to have short, relevant discussions with other attendees and expand their network of business contacts.

Printers are being warned that a new European Timber Regulation comes into force on 3 March 2013, requiring anyone handling timber or timber products, such as paper and board, to perform due diligence by assessing the risk that those products may have come from an illegal source and taking action to mitigate that risk.

Leicester-based Phoenix Colour has bought an Océ Arizona 360 GT and Zund G3 L2500 cutting system to allow it to diversify. “The £250,000 investment, which will have paid for itself within three years, has given me a new lease in printing and has already brought more business to the company,” said owner Peter Davis, adding: “Government funding helped reduce the price by £25,000.”

The potential for printed electronics products has prompted Drupa organiser Messe Düsseldorf to form the Pepso (Printed Electronics Products and Solutions) show which will run alongside six relevant trade fairs at the Düsseldorf exhibition centre. Drupa 2016 is one of those events; the others are Compamed 2013, EuroShop 2014, EuroCIS 2014, glasstec 2014 and interpack 2014.

Rebranded PressOn (formerly Press On Digital) has launched Ballpark Cost, an online print calculator accessed through the company’s new-look website. It provides a quick cost ballpark figure for digital print projects in eight categories; hoarding graphics, floor graphics, window graphics, digital wallpaper, banners, self-adhesive wall vinyl and Foamex boards.

Mimaki Engineering has partnered with Color Concepts, a creator of media profiles, to make available independent, third party certification of media for use with the Mimaki JV400LX printer and latex inks. Mimaki anticipates expanding this programme to other Mimaki printers and inks in the future.

 

Resolution(GB), trading as HP Plotter, is producing a range of DesignJet dust covers. The Fugazi range is manufactured in the UK and will initially cover the DesignJet T120 and T520 machines. It is expected that covers for the DesignJet T and Z series will be available later in the year.

 

A second direct-to-textile printer has been installed at Your Print Partner in Lincoln. The 1.8m Mimaki TS34 will sit alongside the company’s existing Mimaki TX400 producing mainly feather, forecourt and showhome flags, tablecloths, bunting and various event banners.
