HP launches Designjet Z6200 printer

HP has used Photokina to launch the HP Designjet Z6200 printer series which use HP Vivid photo inks to deliver 2,4000dpi images at speeds up to 140m2/hr, which is 50% faster than the predecessor, the Z6100. The range, which will be available as of 1 November, will cost from £8,300 for the 42in model to £14,000 for the 60in version.

DCP acquisition by CWE Solutions creates one of the UK’s biggest resellers

Large-format reseller CWE Solutions has taken-over the business of Sheffield-based reseller DCP Systems to form DCP Solutions, which now trades as a fully owned subsidiary. The acquisition means that CWE Solutions is now one of the UK’s largest independent resellers of large-format products. London-based CWE Solutions is currently the biggest HP reseller in Europe and together with DCP now has a portfolio of wide-format hardware and consumables that includes products from Epson, Cannon and Mutoh too.

Expanded multimedia capability with CorelDraw Premium Suite X5

CorelDraw Premium Suite X5 brings with it expanded multimedia capability including requisite tools for vector-illustration, website creation, image editing, advanced Flash animation and video editing.

Ultima adds to display systems offering

As part of its Linear aluminium frame display system Ultima has launched Linear Vector, a lightweight modular frame system suitable for fabric and rigid substrate graphics. Ultima has also introduced a Vector range of wall-mounted graphic frames that allows you to create seamless graphic displays. These are front-loading, so that even if the display or wall frame is in-situ, graphics can be changed very easily.

Spandex Open House set to deliver practical advice on growing business 

Spandex will host an Open House at its premises in Bristol on 4-5 November. Following the company's theme of 'Learn, Discover and Benefit', the event will comprise interactive learning sessions and practical expert advice to help attendees grow business. Spandex will also show ways to take advantage of the growing textile and soft signage market by maximising the potential of new and existing technology.

Productivity soars at Colouration thanks to Arizona 550 GTs

Colouration has taken its second Arizona 550 GT UV flatbed printer from Océ. The company, which was the first in the UK to install an Arizona 550 when it took its initial machine back in March, said investment in the second printer was necessary because new business won on the back of the first exceeded expectation. It has been operating on a 24/7 basis in order to cope with demand.

The trade event will host a new 'Design Village' that will bring together specifically design and branding agencies and demonstrate what is now achievable in packaging. 

Power points for Digital Plus

Leeds-based large format display company Digital Plus is near completing the task of printing and fitting internal graphics and signage for npower’s new office in the north east. The contract, which started in January this year and is now close to completion, rolls out new branding marking the energy company’s tenth anniversary. Digital Plus’ Océ Arizona 350 GT flatbed was used to print most of the work, supported by the company’s Roland six-colour solvent roll printer.

Canon print sample service extended

Sample Print, Canon’s Web-based large-format print sample service, now includes new images from commercial and landscape photographer  Keith Cooper, of Northlight Images. Rob Andrews of Sample Print said: “We were looking for some strong architectural images as well as some interesting black and whites which Keith has been able to provide for us.”

Barbieri announces additional Rip support

Barbieri has announced new additions to the portfolio of Rips supported by its colour management and digital imaging products. The Spectro LFP Series 3 and Spectro Swing Series 2 spectrophotometers can now benefit users of Mimaki, Roland and Agfa printers, as well as those working with Four Pees’ ProofMaster and PrintFactory. Additional support will be implemented in the near future to include CadLink’s Signlab in the wide-format sector, plus Amica’s ColorPrint, Serendipity Software and Inedit’s Nèostampa as well as EskoArtwork’s Color Engine Pilot. 

Contex sees growth

Large-format scanning and imaging solutions company Contex has reported strong growth during the first half of 2010, achieving an increase of almost 40% for both revenue and units sold. Earnings reached more than $3m - higher than the first half of either 2008 or 2009.

Océ celebrates shipment of 2,000th flatbed printer

Océ has now shipped 2,000 Océ Arizona UV flatbed printers. The first system in this series – the Océ Arizona 250 GT printer – was launched in September 2006. It won the Vision Award, given to a manufacturer whose new product has the best chance of positively impacting the digital imaging industry. There are now five models in the range. 

Shiraz updates Focus package

Shiraz Software will bring out an updated version of its Shiraz Focus package at Photokina later in September. The company will demonstrate the versatility of its Rip software for wide-format photographic and fine art output with OEM partners Fujifilm, Innova and Permajet, as well as on the HP stand.

New photo inkjet print media from Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi HiTec Paper has introduced jetscript IG 2577 and IL 2576 inkjet photo media for applications in the large-format and desktop printing area. They are printable with all common dye-, pigmented- and UltraChrome (K3) inks.
