Ipex 2014 is to have a dedicated ‘World of Wide Format’ sector to the show, which takes place at ExCeL, London on 24 – 29 March. Speaking to BAPC Conference delegates on Saturday, event director Trevor Crawford said 1000m of showspace has been given over to the area and that “about 12 wide-format manufacturers” have signed up to exhibit there. “It’s a chance for commercial printers to come and see the opportunities being offered by wide-format,” he said.

Hull-based Oriel Printing has become the first certified Color-Logic printer to successfully use its Process Metallic Color System on plastic substrates. While Oriel is a 24-hour UV litho trade printer that gained its original Color-Logic certification more than a year ago, it is worth noting that it has since adapted the process to polypropylene (PP) and clear recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

The floor space at Sign and Digital UK 2014 will be 20% greater than at the 2013 show. At the time of going to press, 120 exhibitors had booked a place at the event. This time last year 94 had booked, with 136 total exhibitors by the time the doors opened. Event director Rudi Blackett expects there to be 150–170 at the 2014 show.

i-Sub Digital will show how large-format printing equipment can be used to great small-format effect at The Trophex Show in Birmingham later this month. Apart from showing the Digi-Foil/Mimaki UJF desktop printer combo it will also be showcasing the metallic, white and full colour inks of the Mimaki CJV30-60 print-and-cut system.
