FastAnt Marketing Materials Management, the fulfilment arm of leading Leicestershire printer Taylor Bloxham, has installed a HP FB7600 flatbed inkjet press and Kongsberg XP cutting table as part of its continued expansion into large-format display printing. The investment is designed to enable FastAnt to offer a complete design to fulfilment service to the retail, events management and bespoke packaging markets.

A 3.2m wide MTEX 3.2m digital textile printer has arrived at DPI’s Digital Print Innovation Centre in Derby where it will be demonstrated from 26 June.

Large-format POS specialist Best Digital has installed the world’s first Screen Truepress Jet W1632UV flatbed inkjet printer after ordering it at Drupa in a £500,000 two-machine deal that also included a Screen Truepress Jet 2500UV hybrid wide-format printer. The investment is expected to treble capacity and double turnover to £3m by 2014 as the company expands into new markets with new added-value products.

Arizona Series UV flatbed printers will be showcased alongside Zünd cutting system to demonstrate new applications at open days in Scotland from 19 June until 4 July.

Car wrapping at all skill levels is the topic of a programme of practical workshops being provided this autumn by Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Solutions at its Graphics Centre in Alphen-aan-den-Rijn, The Netherlands.

Oasis Graphic is discovering the appeal of the opaque matte black print made possible with its EFI Vutek GS3250 flatbed UV printer after being commissioned to produce over 26m2 of graphics on several substrates for Blackberry. This included direct print to clear polycarbonate for light boxes and direct print to ferro paper which, when coupled with magnetic panels, have created a quick and easily updateable graphic solution. All the graphics were UV printed to guarantee colour integrity for four years.

Service Graphics is responsible for providing the giant backdrop for the Coldplay Mylo Xyloto European Tour. Set design and construction company Hangman commissioned the St Ives subsidiary to print the 6,200m2 backdrop which covers the stadium seating behind the stage.

Four wide-format and digital inkjet printing experts will judge the 2012 Inca Digital Excellence Awards (Ideas). Barney Cox, senior consultant at InfoTrends; Phil Day, director of POPAI UK and Ireland; Stan Kilpin, publisher of Digital Image Australia/New Zealand and Noel Ward, MD of Brimstone Hill Associates in the US all have extensive knowledge of inkjet technology and its ability to produce myriad creative products.

Katie Skelton, a member of the GB synchronised swimming squad sponsored by Hollywood Monster, recently visited the company’s Tyseley headquarters where she started the print run for one of Europe’s largest ever banners. The 350m x 14m display will be installed at Westfield Stratford City, adjacent to the Olympic Park, before the event begins next month.

Josero is seeing sales of refurbished superwide printers soar. Managing director Loic Delor said: “We have seen significant growth in the superwide market over the past few months. It really has been astonishing.”

Welwyn Garden City-based packaging specialist Fingerprint FO+ has installed a Roland VersaUV LEC-540 wide-format print-and-cut solution to enable it to create packaging prototypes and handle short-run applications straight from its desktop computers onto exactly the same range of media it puts through its two Heidelberg Speedmasters.
