Atech brings Handy Eyepress to the UK

Atech has brought the Handy Eyepress to the UK. Winner of the Viscom Innovation Award in 2009, this tool has been selling like hotcakes across Europe and Atech has now been awarded UK distribution rights. It allows users to make on-site repairs to installed banners and comes in two sizes – one for 9.5mm eyelets and another for 11mm eyelets – and costs £124.95 (including 100 eyelets).

Zund UK launches part-exchange programme

Owners of Zund flatbed cutters can now apply for a trade-in value against their old cutter when they buy a new Zund G3 flatbed cutter. Zund UK will take away the old cutter at the same time as the new one is installed.

Design and print company installs 2m Seal laminator

RJDA has installed a 2m Seal 80 Pro laminator to compliment its large-format print hardware, which includes a HP Designjet LX65500 latex machine.

InkTec introduces Jetrix UV printer to UK

InkTec will officially launch the Jetrix UV-curable flatbed printers in the UK at Sign and Digital 2011 in April.

Brian Forsdike retires from Screen Europe

Brian Forsdike will retire as president of Screen Europe and chairman of Dainippon Screen UK on 31 March after a 31-year association with the company. His successor is Kees Mulder, a Dutch national who was formally vice president and director corporate business development with Eastman Kodak in Europe. Kees joined Screen Europe on 1 February and will take over as managing director and president of Screen European Operations on 1 April. 

HolloGraphics makes wide-format white with its Roland VersaCamm VS-640

Five months after installing a Roland VersaCamm VS-640 print-and-cut unit, Winchester-based HolloGraphics says it has seen business grow thanks to the increasingly diverse range of contour-cut printed applications it is producing and the opportunities afforded by the machine’s white ink capability.

BPIF announces Finance and Investment Conference

The BPIF is to stage a one-day Finance and Investment Conference, entitled ‘The Challenge of Transformational Change’ on 22 March at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. The event will focus on how change is affecting the print industry and what challenges and opportunities this could bring for companies and businesses in the sector. 

Fespa Economy Survey 4 shows printers gearing up for year of growth

86% of respondents to Fespa's latest Economy Survey expect their businesses to grow in 2011, with more than half of those surveyed forecasting growth to exceed 10%. More than 17% anticipate growth above 25%. Half of all respondents believe the wide-format market has recovered from the economic downturn.  Reflecting on sales in the fourth quarter of 2010, 25% reported them better than 2009, 19% said they were better than expected, and 39% thought they were as expected.

3D visualisation tool for retail market

The joint efforts of EskoArtwork and VTales Graphics have produced Store Visualizer, a software application that allows brand owners and retailers to see the impact of their packaging and displays. The partnership draws on EskoArtwork’s expertise in creating 3D packaging models and VTales’ state-of-the art visualisation technology. The resulting software lets users place virtual objects in photographed scenes, enabling them to see their designs in an in-store setting and determine how they compare with rival products.

CWE Solutions appointed UK reseller for the EskoArtwork Kongsberg flatbed cutters and software

CWE Solutions has been appointed a UK reseller for the EskoArtWork Kongsberg flatbed cutters and associated workflow software. The range of cutters included in the contract covers the entire XE, XP and XL series including those supplied with the i-cut software system and automated systems. The workflow software also supplied is the i-Suite, Neo, Odystar, ArtoisCad and ArtPro. 

SRD Print invests in a wide-format Anapurna Mw printer

Customer demand has prompted Lutterworth-based SRD Print to expand into wide-format with an Agfa Anapurna Mw. The company, managed by Craig and Esther Butterfield, provides a range of print services including chemistry-free litho and digital output for a customer base involving some national retail accounts. These customers are now increasing demands for wide-format display and POS materials.
